Judge David L. Ashworth was elected to the bench of the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas in November, 1999 and retained for a second 10 year term in November of 2009. Additionally, he is the professor of PBH303 – Problem-Solving Courts – a Community Based Learning class where students gain an understanding of the impact of addiction and mental health issues on our society within the context of the criminal court system.

Judge Ashworth reveals the benefits of Problem-Solving Courts, specifically Drug-Courts, and how treatment-based alternatives to incarceration benefit both the individuals in the program, as well as society at large. Graduates of the Drug Court program will discuss their experiences as addicts, their time in the Drug Court program, and lives today.
