For our Fall 2013 Dance Concert the Franklin & Marshall Dance Company performs an exciting array of works by guest artists, featuring a piece by world-renowned choreographer Mark Morris. Polka, to music by Lou Harrison, is a rhythmic tour de force described by one reviewer as “a tribal circle dance suggesting a frenzied, pagan rite of spring around leaping campfire flames.” Another reviewer noted that Morris’s Polka “sent the audience to their feet with cheering and resounding applause.” And there’s more! This richly diverse program features a modern work by alumna Lyndsey Vader ’06, now artistic co-director of Treeline Dance Works; a sound-music-movement choreography by New York City-based composer-choreographer Pat Daugherty, and a modern ballet piece by Ellie Goudie-Averill of Stone Depot Dance Lab (Philadelphia). Familiar to F&M audiences, and always bringing new approaches to their art, are Jennifer Conley (modern dance), Elba Hevia y Vaca (flamenco), and Sonya Mann-MacFarlane (African dance). This is another F&M Dance show you won’t want to miss!
