When pianist Maria Thompson Corley and cellist Sara Male decided in 2011 to collaborate on an ongoing basis, the name Duo Chiaroscuro seemed a perfect title. The name refers to the contrasting effects of light and shade in a work of art, and the Duo strives to explore the full range of the musical tonal palette. Their concert features an eclectic range of compositions including works by Stravinsky, Janacek, Piazolla and Chopin. Also included in the program will be a commissioned work by Canadian composer, Barbara York.
This event is open to the public.
